The use of nitrous oxide as a recreational drug has been a problem in the Netherlands for years. In many Dutch cities, its use in public is prohibited, including, of course, while driving. On November 3, 2024, police in Rotterdam attempted to intercept two men using nitrous oxide while driving. They were only able to stop them 100 kilometers away in Arnhem.
